La « ville aux clochers rêveurs » possède l’une des architectures les plus belles du Royaume-Uni. Promenez-vous sur le campus de Christ Church et de Magdalen College, superbes bâtiments semblant sortis tout droit d’un livre de contes. Traversez le pont Hertford, également surnommé le Pont des Soupirs par des générations d’étudiants. Pour une vue panoramique sur la ville, montez en haut de l’église St. Mary the Virgin, qui date du XIVème siècle. Visitez le château d’ Oxford, très bien préservé malgré ses dix siècles d’histoire, et allez voir une représentation d’une troupe de théâtre étudiante à l’Oxford Playhouse.

Perdez-vous dans les rayonnages de Blackwell’s Books, plus grande librairie européenne spécialisée dans l’histoire. Flânez dans les petites boutiques de vêtements et les petits cafés du marché couvert d’Oxford.

Sports et activités d’extérieur

Lors de votre séjour linguistique à Oxford pour étudiants et jeunes, pliez-vous à une tradition oxfordienne et glissez à la force de vos bras sur la rivière Isis à bord d’un punt, embarcation à fond plat. Constatez par vous-même la reviviscence des anciens bastions industriels de Manchester et Liverpool. Découvrez l’énergie sans borne de la capitale internationale qu’est Londres. Envie de plage ? Partez explorer la côte sud lors d’une excursion à Brighton.

Loisirs et vie nocturne

Très dynamiques, les nombreux étudiants d’Oxford élisent domicile, le soir, dans les dizaines de pubs traditionnels qui entourent le campus, dont certains sont fréquentés par plusieurs générations d’étudiants déjà. Lorsque le soleil se couche, les clubs du centre d’Oxford prennent vie. Mettez le cap sur Cowley Road pour des concerts très éclectiques.
